Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel? You know the place I’m talking about. Where your circumstances are overwhelming, your situation seems insurmountable, and your problems won’t go away.
When you find yourself in this place, you feel overcome. You feel defeated. You feel overwhelmed. You want to throw in the towel. You want to give up. You get to a point where you lose all hope.
The disciples, who were Jesus’ followers, found themselves caught in the midst of the place we are talking about in this post. (You can read about it in Matthew 14, Mark 6, and John 6) They were caught in the middle of the worst storm of their lives. The winds and the waves were crashing against the boat. Their situation seemed hopeless. But despite their circumstances, they eventually made it to the other side.
I’d like to point out a few things that I believe will help encourage those of you who find yourself in this place of hopelessness and despair.
1) God knows right where you are.
When you find yourself in this situation the first response that you find yourself having is “Where is God?” Mark writes that Jesus saw the disciples struggling against the storm. Jesus knew exactly where the disciples were at. And just like He saw the disciples in their situation, He sees you in your situation. He is not surprised by your situation. He is not caught off guard by your circumstances. He knows right where you are.
2) You are going to make it to the other side.
God doesn’t promise that you won’t have any trouble in life but He does promise that you will make it to the other side. Jesus told the disciples they were going over to the other side but He never said how they were going to get there or what they may face along the way. You may find yourself in the middle of a storm right now but hold on to the promise that you’re going to make it to the other side. You may face some winds and waves along the way, but don’t give up, you’re going to make it to the other side. Your situation may seem insurmountable, but you’re going to make it to the other side. Your circumstances may be overwhelming, but you’re going to make it to the other side. No matter where you may find yourself, you’re going to make it to the other side.
I feel like someone out there who is reading this, you’re on the brink of giving up all hope. You can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. You don’t think you’ll ever make it to the shore. I want to remind you God’s promises are true. His word never fails. He works all things together for your good. He finishes what He starts. So if He says you’re going to make it to the other side, you’re going to make it to the other side.
