Before my grandmother past away about a year ago this past December, she made a journal entry for the last 13 days she was on this planet. So since it’s a new year and it being 2013, the first 13 posts this year are going to be from my grandmother’s journal in honor and rememberance of her.
Day 1: Everything got started in Him and finds it’s purpose in Him.
Everything that we see in our world today, even the things we cannot see, were created in and through Jesus. John reminds us of this in the first chapter of his Gospel when he writes:
Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. (John 1:3-4 NIV)
He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. (John 1:10 NIV)
Be reminded today that every blessing, every spiritual gift, every financial need, every physical ability, every ounce of wisdom and knowledge has been given to you through Jesus and is sustained through Him. Give thanks to Him today for not only saving you but also sustaining you.
Paul writes to the Ephesians in his first letter to them this truth:
He made known the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ. In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will. (Ephesians 1:9, 11 NIV)
And just in case the Ephesians missed this, Paul reminds them of this truth in his third letter to them when he writes:
According to His eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ephesians 3:11 NIV)
If you are having trouble finding your purpose in life, find Jesus, because once you find Him you will find your purpose. Your purpose in life is found in Him and in Him alone. You won’t find it in your bank account. You won’t find it in your degrees. You won’t find it in your career. You won’t find it in your spouse. You won’t find it in your children. You won’t even find it in ministry. You will only find satisfaction, peace, love, completion, and purpose in Jesus. Not Jesus and something else. Not Jesus or something else. Just Jesus.
So if you are looking to get your start and searching for your purpose in life, grasp a hold of Jesus because He is the only one who can give you a start and a purpose.
