Please Be Seated

With the election for a new President just around the corner, everyone seems to be worried or concerned about the climate of our country. People believe that the future of our nation hinges strongly upon whether or not we elect or re-elect the right person as President of the United States.

I personally am not into politics at all. I couldn’t tell you who stands for what or what each candidate is promising they will do if elected President. I believe that no matter who gets elected, Republican or Democrat, they won’t be able to fix or clean up the mess our country is in. I believe the only person that can save our nation is the person of Jesus Christ. Him and Him alone is what our nation needs. He is the only one that can heal our land. I heard Reverend Samuel Rodriguez say “It’s not the Elephant or the Donkey that will save our country but it’s the Lion of the tribe of Judah.”

I think that most of us believe that Jesus is looking down at the situation our country is in and think that He is shocked or surprised at what is taking place. I think we believe that Jesus is pacing back and forth in heaven somewhere wondering what He is going to do. That He is saying to Himself “I didn’t expect them to do that. What am I going to do now?” The truth is Jesus is not worried at all. In fact, Jesus is sitting back relaxed using the world as His autamine.

Paul writes how Jesus is seated at the right hand of God:

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1)

“That he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 1:20)

The writer of Hebrews also records:

“But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.” (Hebrews 10:12)

Jesus, Himself, even said:

“But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.” (Luke 22:69)

“And Jesus said, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” (Mark 14:62)

The reason why a person sits down is because they are finished with whatever it is that they set out to accomplish. Nothing that ever happens will catch Jesus by surprise and make Him get up from sitting down. He has finished the work that He came to do and the only time He is going to get back up is when He comes back again. Until then, He will forever be seated because He is sovereign.

Have the assurance today that Jesus is still sitting because what He has started in your life, He will complete because He has already finished it. So no longer worry about what situation or circumstance in your life that you may be currently facing because Jesus is still seated. Don’t be taken off guard by the storms in life that suddenly arise out of nowhere because Jesus is still seated. Don’t be shocked by the trials that you are going through because Jesus is still seated. Don’t be afraid of the valleys that you face because Jesus is still seated. Whatever it is or will be don’t panic, don’t fret, don’t agonize, don’t freak out because Jesus is still seated.
