Authoritative Figure

If I were to go out in the middle of the road and put my hand up in an attempt to stop traffic, chances are I would either get run over or would have to jump out of the way in an effort to avoid the cars barreling down on me. However if my brother were to attempt to do the same thing, the cars would end up stopping for him. The difference being because my brother is a police officer. He has been given the authority by the state of South Carolina to stop or direct traffic. My brother has no power to stop a car on his own, but because the of authority he has been given, cars will stop.

Jesus said in Luke 10:

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. (Luke 10:19 NIV)

You have been given the authority to overcome anything that comes against you in life. So many times in life, we succumb to things that we have the authority over. Just like my brother  is able to stop traffic because of the authority that has been given him, you are able to stop the attacks of the enemy in your life because of the authority given to you by Jesus.

You can stop the storm that tries to rage against you. You can stop the waves from crashing down on you. You can stop the wind from tossing you about. You can stop poverty dead in its tracks. You can stop sickness from attacking you. You can stop depression from rising up in your life. You can stop despair right where it is.

Don’t give up the right that you have to the enemy anymore. Take authority today in Jesus.
