Now Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. Now Martha said to Jesus, Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You. Jesus said to her, Your brother will rise again. Martha said to Him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? She said to Him, Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world. (John 11:20-27 NKJV)
Here in John 11, we find an interesting conversation between Jesus and Martha concerning the death of Martha’s brother, Lazarus. There is two things that God revealed to me as I studied this dialogue between Jesus and Martha.
There are some of you who are reading this and God has told you what you need to do, but you haven’t done it yet. You don’t need another sign, you don’t need to wait for someone else in your life to confirm it, you need to just simply obey. My grandfather had this magnet on his refrigerator and it’s still there today that says “Do it today!” Whatever it is that God has been telling you to do, don’t put it off any longer. Do it today. Do it now! Because if you don’t, you will continue to be stuck in the place you’re at, never experiencing the greater things in life that God has in store for you.
Others of you who are reading this; you have been believing, trusting, praying for God to do something and it hasn’t happened. You had faith and hope that it was going to happen while your dream was still alive and breathing, although it was sick and didn’t look so bright anymore, but it has died now. Just like Martha, you still believe and hope that someday your dream will come true or come back to life again, but you don’t see it happening now. I want to remind you that we not only serve a God who is a healer, but we also serve a God who can bring dead things back to life. Not only can God put the broken pieces of your life back together, but He can resurrect your dream. And just like Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead immediately, He is going to resurrect your dream now.
So if you have been putting your next step off in your walk with Christ, don’t hesitate. Do it now! Or if your dream has died and you have given up all hope of it ever happening, God is going to do it now! Just like Jesus asked Martha if she believed, I ask you. Do you believe?
